Cultural flow

Rong culture house

The culture house is situated in a polygon of municipal functions; a primary school, city hall, home for the elderly and a kindergarten. The buildings are spread far apart, surrounded by a large amount of land that creates an intimate link to nature. Our proposal is to create a house for culture that acts as an extension of a natural hill on the site. The programs are complex and we wish to create a natural interconnection between the different user-groups within the building.
The functions are organized around two main volumes: the auditorium and the sports arena. Around them we place the library, school kitchen, bowling alley, squash hall, climbing facilities, dance halls and wardrobes. In the basement there is a shooting range. The facades are transparent in order to maintain contact between the inside and outside of the building. The orange-painted auditorium becomes a point of reference in the landscape.
