“Sobrevent” wins first prize in Barcelona

We are proud to announce that Mestres Wåge Architects have won the competition for the new Nautical Education and Technology Hub in Barcelona!

Between the ten prequalified teams, our proposal “Sobrevent” has been chosen by the jury as the winner.

The new Nautical Hub is planned in the port of Barcelona, Barceloneta district, and will play an important role in Barcelona harbour investment in the blue, sustainable economy.

The building houses two main functions: the Nautical University  (the faculty of Nautical Engineering of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya), and an incubator for the promotion of entrepreneurship related to naval industries (incubator for Barcelona Activa).

The building is promoted by BIMSA – The municipality of Barcelona.
